Education Without Barriers β For Every Ability, Every Dream
The Madras Seva Sadan and its units were built on the Founder's ideals of leaving no child behind. Our dedication to inclusive education, began in 1998 with the establishment of Learning Centres to help mainstream children with learning disabilities. In 2002 we adopted the NIOS curriculum, which provides flexible and effective learning pathways, tailored to individual needs. Our inclusive approach has helped almost 700 children complete schooling, by providing curated spaces equipped to nurture them and help them grow. Based on our history with inclusive education, the number of children with special needs we keep identifying in our schools, and the lack of affordable, inclusive learning spaces, we created the Lady Andal Open School, designed to provide accessible education for every child who needs it. The Lady Andal Open School is a 35,000 sq. ft. therapy-integrated special school in Chennai, offering education, therapy and vocational training for up to 300 children with special needs, and offering all of these services, free of cost to the economically disadvantaged. We believe that every child should have the opportunity to achieve greatness. In line with this vision, we adopted the NIOS curriculum to support sportspersons, who perform at the state, national and international level. The NIOS curriculum offers a flexible and effective learning platform tailored to individual needs. The school was inaugurated on November 14, Childrenβs Day. We were deeply honoured to have Poonam Natarajan, Founder of Vidya Sagar, inaugurate the school, and Tmt. M. Lakshmi, Commissioner for the Welfare of the Differently Abled, Government of Tamil Nadu, as our Guest of Honour. Their presence and messages reinforced the importance of access and meaningful opportunity for every child.
