Play structure at The Madras Seva Sadan School, Tambaram
Transforming Education Through Play, Art and Community Support
We are excited to announce the inauguration of a new, innovative play structure in the Self-Financed English medium primary section of The Madras Seva Sadan School, Tambaram. The play structure is the initiative of Art for Play - an organization that incorporates art, design and physical activity into the lives of children from low-income backgrounds. The project was sponsored by Sundaram Finance and implemented by Anthill Design. The designer - Anushritha Sunil is an architect from Delhi, who has won awards for her inclusive and child-friendly designs. Anushritha’s design was inspired by the works of dancer and choreographer William Forsythe. It was heartwarming to see the children enjoying the play area. Their joy and excitement could be heard across the whole campus. We are thankful to the Art for Play team for their efforts. It is always a pleasure to collaborate with like minded individuals and organizations who work towards the upliftment of underserved communities. In the true spirit of community service, several of our parents, who come from humble backgrounds, decided to personally contribute towards the beautification and safety of the play area, after its completion. One parent sponsored to have the wall painted around the play structure and our Primary school headmistress sponsored the labour charges. A second parent donated beach sand to level the ground and make it smoother, while a third parent donated cycle tubes which were used as padding. We are grateful to be part of a community that comes together for the welfare of the children.
