The Madras Seva Sadan has been a pioneer in education and welfare for underserved communities in Tamil Nadu since its establishment in 1928. Our efforts have ranged from vocational & literary training for local communities, training for teachers, nurses, and midwives, to India’s first Secretarial Course for Girls and even aiding in the rehabilitation of paroled women prisoners. More recently in 2023, we inaugurated the Tech Mahindra SMART Centre, a 5,000+ sq.ft. facility focusing on industry-aligned employability skills for underprivileged youth at our Chetpet Campus. Our latest, and most ambitious, endeavor is the Madras Seva Sadan Community Empowerment School for Vocational Skilling. Located at our Tambaram campus, the center aims to equip underserved communities with the knowledge and skills they need for economic independence and sustainable livelihoods, fostering self-reliance and empowerment. The project will begin construction in August 2025, with a projected completion of over 44,000 sq.ft. in early 2028. Collaboration is key for a project of this scale and we are grateful to have found partners who share in our vision and commitment to social change. I am happy to announce that The Madras Seva Sadan Community Empowerment School is now supported by the Rotary Club of Chennai Towers and the Madras Midtown Round Table 42. We are also excited to announce that the training, placement and overall program execution will be taken up by Tech Mahindra Foundation (TMF). We are always looking for more like minded individuals and organizations to join us in our efforts to uplift communities through education, empowerment, and compassion.
